Invites for ECS Dev. League revealed

The organisers of the Esports Championship Series have revealed the eight teams that have been invited to compete in its Development League.

With ECS Season 2 due to start only in October, the league’s organisers will be hosting in September a qualifying tournament to give teams the chance to earn spots in the $1.75 million competition.

The ECS Development League will consist of two divisions, each one with eight teams – four invites and four determined by open online qualifiers.

SK will need to requalify for ECS

In North America, the top two teams from the Development League division will take on the bottom two teams of Season 1 in promotion matches to determine the final teams entering ECS Season 2.

In Europe, the first-placed team of the qualifiers will move directly into ECS due to the region having an additional spot up for grabs following Na`Vi’s withdrawal, which means that it will be the runner-up and the third-placed side going to the promotion stage against the bottom teams from the inaugural season.

Below you can find the participants’ list for the Development Leagues:

GODSENT SK
Natus Vincere Renegades
Gambit Immortals
FlipSid3 Selfless
AGG (Open qualifier #1) RONIN (Open qualifier #1)

SK Gaming will need to requalify for ECS through the Development League after losing their spot in the league following the signing of Luminosity Gaming’s squad.
